THE BARRINGTON COFFEEHOUSE -- Known for the Best in Great LIVE Music !
Here's where you can check the place out before stopping to see and hear in person. It's a good way to assist folks thinking about performing at or attending any of our fine evening events.

  • VENUE: Suburban Coffeehouse, 1000 sq.ft. total with about 2/3rds of that retail space, counter/bar w/kitchen
  • Layout: Angled "L" floor layout about 19 ft. wide by maybe 40 ft.long if you include the little tuneup room before the restroom. Lighting & Sound included.
  • Seating: Regularly set to about 25 people, can expand to about 32 or so comfortibally and have had as many as 50 with standing and floorsitting.
  • Times: Shows are generally Wednesday, Thursday & Friday w/ an occational Saturday, 2 hours long from 8:00pm to 10:00pm.
  • Parking: parking is free on a first come basis, next to the building, across at the post office or around the safe streets.
  • Style: Mostly acoustic guitar driven singer songwriters and storytellers playing originals and covers of a traditional coffeehouse flavor with lotsa room for the young new groups mixed in with some all time great classics and forgotten favorites. Comics, Poets and Performing Arts are all welcomed (blue material curbed when children are present). All cover charges, CD sales, donation hats, etc, (if required) will be the responsibility of the performers. Always bring your own instruments, mics, cables, tuners, stands, etc...
  • In-House Sound: Yamaha 300w (setup ready to go, operator not supplied) 8 channel stereo (4 mic/4 line) w/eq & fx, RCA ins/outs, 1 small 100w floor monitor, 2 microphones & stands (dynamic mics only, not to use phantom power without prior notification).
  • Recommended Configurations: For solo, duo or trio acts it's the perfect intimate setting, 4 to 5 players is about max the stage will hold. Most any instrument welcomed with some considerstions; Bass guitar is prefered but at low volume please and though percussion is ok, drums are not prefered (if you must have drums they must be a small kit and be at a very low volume only), House reserves the right to shut down any overly load or offensive performances.
  • WIDE OPEN MIC uses the house sound system and adds in a Mackie 12 channel mixer and 400w pro monitor, 2 mics, tuner, music stand, guitar stand and CD player. Photos taken during performances for Website (supplied by host).
